The following are the most common questions about the Building Component Seismic Safety Institute and the online seismic bracing courses.

Q. What is the cost of the seismic bracing courses and how do I pay for them?
A. The cost of each course is shown on the school site and is usually $99. Payment is made from your PayPal account or by using your credit card through Paypal.

Q. How do I get into the BCSSI School and take a course?
A. Click on the “VIEW CLASSES” button or select a course from the available courses on the BCSSI Home Page. Then Login if you already have a Student Account or Create a New Account. There is no charge for opening a Student Account. Once you have logged in, select the desired course and the PayPal dialog will open. When the payment is made you will be in the course and the lecture, exam and reference materials will be there for you to use. You will not be able to view or print the certificate until you have passed the exam.

Q. How long are the lectures?
A. Most of the lectures are roughly 1 hour long and the exam should take about 1/2 hour to complete.

Q. How long are the exams?
A. Each exam has between 15 and 20 Multiple Choice Questions. There are no trick questions. All of the answers are in the lecture and the exam is “Open Book” in the sense that there is not time limit and you can review the lecture using rewind, pause, stop, etc. as desired.

Q. When will I receive my certificate indicating the PDH awarded to me for successfully completing one of the seismic bracing courses?
A. When you click the button to submit your exam, if you have passed (70% is passing), your certificate will be immediately available for viewing & printing in your Student Account. At that time the certificate will also be emailed to your email address.

Q. Is there any charge for additional copies of my certificates?
A. No. You may access them again at any time from your Student Account.

Q. Does BCSSI maintain a record of the Certificates?
A. Yes. Each certificate has a control number printed on it , which becomes a permanent part of the Students Record.
